3 things I can't get to sleep unless I tell you:

Okay, I wanted to go to bed on time but there were just some things that I had to say. I haven't blogged in a while but after watching the movie Julia and Julie, I remembered how important this was to me.

So those three things: tomorrow's election in Massachusetts is one of the most important elections for freedom in a long time, I hate when people play politics instead doing what is right for America and Americans as a whole, and socialism ALWAYS fails and Haiti is a great example of why it does.

First, everyone who enjoys their God given freedoms and liberties has a stake in tomorrow's (today's if you are reading this on Tuesday) election in Massachusetts. State Senator Brown needs to defeat State Attorney General Coakley if freedom has a chance to survive in America. I don't care if Obama is president for the next 6 years, we need opposition if our freedom is to survive. We need the Senate to be able to filibuster bills that harm that freedom and harm the Constitution in the way that the Health Care Bill or Cap and Trade does. I could go into long book-like tangent about those two things but they are just bad. Bad for the economy, bad for your pocket books (taxes and higher costs), bad for freedom, and of course bad for the Constitution. If Brown is elected, then the Senate can stop those things from coming to pass. Having ALL the power in one party is too dangerous. Just look at what the Republicans did under Bush (they spent way too much, among other things- i.e. Patriot Act, Iraq War, and so on).

Speaking of Bush, it has been a farce if you believed that Obama was going to "Change" the way things are done in Washington. Obama is doing the EXACT SAME THING as Bush just more of it. He is spending more, he is more secretive (no CSPAN like he PROMISED but closed door meetings for the healthcare bill), he is increasing the debt and deficit more, getting us into more wars (more troops to Afgan.) It was a lie that he was/is for change. The only thing he changed was a mascot and the speed at which the government was doing things. I mention this because the thing I hate about some Republicans that bash Obama so much like Hannity and others, yet they did not really speak out when Bush was attacking our freedoms, our Constitution, and killing the debt/deficit. Great reads out there from Judge Andrew Napolitano on this subject, as well as any economics by Dr. Walter Williams and Dr. Thomas Sowell. Get over it- many Republicans are socialists as are Democrats (check how many in both parties are members of the CFR- a globalism think tank). Bush and Obama are the same- just a different mascot. They are socialists. They believe the government can solve our problems. Bush with "compassionate conservatism" (nothing related to conservatism), and Obama with Cap and Trade, Obamacare, and the plethora of government bailouts/stimuli. Its all the same. Who cares what party does it. It is wrong in both cases. Socialism fails. (The only thing I will concede to Bush is that he did do a better job at protecting innocent life than Obama-check out his response to Rick Warren on the issue of abortion and then see what Obama did day 3 of his administration and see if he was consistent with his word)

Finally, speaking of socialism failing, of which there are countless, countless examples in many countries besides our own that have proven this, the country of Haiti is a great example of how socialism has failed. First let me say, I believe that the people of Haiti need help and I don't blame them. My heart breaks for them, especially those little children, and I am going to talk about that, so follow me here. The United States has given BILLIONS of dollars to Haiti and they are still so poor. By the way, GM and Chrysler only wished they could profit billions. The problem is those billions came in the way of socialism. Our government giving to their government, either directly or through one of the many globalism organizations. The money never goes to the people it only goes to the corrupt government. It is a waste of our hard earned tax dollars. Cut taxes and I will give my money to Samarians Purse or Compassion International and I know that money makes it to the people. Socialism is a failure and the policy in Haiti proves it. We should and need to help those people but our government can't do it. It has to be done privately or corruption will continue like it always does in socialism. Just ask all the Senators and Unions who got bribes for their states/people to support the government's socialized health care plan.

Now, I can go to sleep.

Understand one thing though. I am not an advocate of disrespecting authority. I believe in upholding it. The problem in our country is that most people think that Bush and Obama or the Congress and Supreme Court are the authority in our country. They would be wrong (outside of God of course), the CONSTITUTION is the "supreme law of the land", not those jokers in Washington. Read the Constitution and you will see that I am right.

Yea that's all right on. It is very (take note of the word 'very') evident that socialism never works. Will a group of people living together be content with their two pieces of bread each? No. After a while the big guy is gonna start stealing those little kids pastries. (I know, it's a great analogy)

C.Coleman said...

In a time when our economy is so devastated and there are millions of individuals, regardless of citizenship, without health care, is it really in Americas best interest to shovel out millions to corrupt faltering governments when those tax dollars could be used for those who so painstakingly pay them(that is, those that fall in the top 25-50% of income earners, not the bottom 50% that doesn't pay taxes)? Shouldn't that money be invested into ourselves, to promote the world economies well being? NO where in the constitution does it state that the United States has to give hand outs to any country regardless of proximity, and yet, time and again, the powers that be decide on behalf of the people that it is the "right" thing to do, as 10+% of our population sits jobless. Philanthropy is a private endeavor, and charity should not be a requirement of a nation teetering on the verge of collapse with its own corruption and socialist agendas on the table.

As a footnote, My heart goes out to all those affected by the tragedy in Haiti, and I am through my Fraternity donating to a private organization involved in assisting those citizens in Haiti that are affected.

Since Monday night Scott Brown has won the election. This gives the Senate Republicans the ability to filibuster any future plans of the President or the Democrats in Congress. The health care bill might still go through, but it should be a warning since Scott Brown ran on an anti-socialist health care campaign. The people don't want socialism and this even in a very liberal state like Massachusetts. Now if only this Congress would listen. Or, are they political kamakazis?

Your'e righ on all but one thing, Obama's not doing a bad thing sending troops to Afghanistan. America needs to keep putting troops into Afghanistan. Yeah, Bush is who put us into this 'war', and thats all over now, so as long as the troops that were put in there are still there they need to be kept constantly in there with more. The draft should probably be put back into affect not only to grow the army and to 'create jobs', but to help get out of Afghanistan quicker, Reagan's 'star wars' needs to be back just in case Iran gets more ticked off with us, the Navy needs to get back all of their ships that are gathering mothballs like the USS Iowa, the airforce needs to keep the F-22 raptor, and China needs to stop making all of the Army's stuff (and most of the US's other stuff too!). Sure this sounds a bit crazy, but it is necessary if America is to survive the next few decades without being conquered by Arabs and Asians. Besides that, you are right about the other stuff concerning party power and illegal bills etc..

Anthony good comment but the government itself has said there are only 300 insurgents in Afgan. Most are in Pakistan. We are nation building over there but our own roads and bridges are falling apart here. This is all a joke. Both Clinton and bush had chances to kill bin laden and they passed it over. I support the troops- give them the best stuff but let's protect our own borders. Remember congress must declare war not the President, nor does congress have the authority to give away it's power.

Anonymous said...

Most likely Bin Laden's dead, with how old he was when he entered hiding. I dont beleive it's him that calling the shots any more, I beleive it's someone else. I still think that Obama should do what he promised and withdraw the troops, but in my opinion, they should stay. If we just packed up now, then most likely everything would just crumble back to the way it was. Those people (in my opinion) are not strong enough to defend themselves. I think that it is one of America's best investment at the time. While we are there, it keeping more of the terrorist from being here.I don't like that our troops are being blown up, but it's better than defenseless people on an airplane. I also agree that we should play the draft; America is heading down the same road as the Roman Empire, they don't have enough people to fight and wont be able to defend themselves.
-Brent Blackwell

C.Coleman said...

I STRONGLY disagree with the two comments about enacting the draft. The Military is not a fix all for unemployment, and the thought of prolonging occupation of a sovereign nation will only further the trend you made reference to about Rome. There mistake was trying to expand when they didnt have the man power. we should worry about controlling our borders, not everyone elses. Im all for having the biggest, baddest stick; however, deploying it costs money. And playing policeman for the world has gotten exorbitantly expensive, and its safe to say we need to get our financial books in order before we proceed to dish out funds for the temp hire military that a draft would bring about. Private companies are the only way to successfully pull out of a depression, not tacking on more debt by enlisting the population in GOVT jobs.

In principle, I think everyone should serve a minimum term in service, BUT our government is not financially structured to do so.

First of all, congrats to Scott Brown in his win in the Senate. When asked what he thought about possibly getting the seat of Ted Kennedy his response was, "It is the people's seat." What's unbelieveable is the fact that the Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid state that they have heard the "message" of the people but do not think this win by Scott Brown has anything to do with Healthcare. In fact, it has almost everything to do with Healthcare. If the people wanted Healthcare than Martha Coakley would have secured the 60th seat in the Senate, but she didn't. If one looks at the races in Virginia for governor and recent race in the Carolinas and now this in Massachussetts, it is obvious Congress needs to stop. If the people of the United States wanted Nationalized Healthcare, one would think the bill would be getting more support than it has lately. People who voted for Obama realize they are not getting what they bargained for persay (All that change stuff). The citizens of this country are trying to send a statement (finally!!!) to Congress and this Obamacare, stop ramming it down there throats. It is not the job of the federal government to regulate healtcare. It was also a smart move by President Obama to hold all proceedings on the bill until Senator Scott Brown arrives. If he didn't, he would have really made some people hot (especailly those who would not be getting represented in Massachussetts).

Good analysis Chris. It use to be everyone did serve...in the state's militia, and the took their guns home. If you couldn't afford a firearm the government was required to supply firearms to the citizens. I like that idea of service not Obamas idea.

I agree with Brent, if more troops are fighting off the terroists there aren't going to be as many here. But we don't need to over look the fact that Obama hasn't kept his promise. Atleast we need some integrity in the leader of our country. I do beleive the draft is a good idea but it could run into some problems... like money. Yes, it would create more jobs and we need jobs but we don't have the money to pay them. The nation is in a whole lot of debt. So where would we get the money?

The draft is a horrible idea to fight insurgents. We are already taking a memmer to a gnat sized opponent. You do not win guerilla warfare by using mass armies. That has been tried and failed. Like when Russia invaded afganistan with more than we did and lost because they were not fighting in an intelligent fashion(and because the cia provided weapons)

We do not belong over in Afganistan. All this country has accomplished by military action is create more enimies for ourselves. The terrorists have dispersed themeselves to countries we are not in right now.

Ok, so I agree with most everything that you have said. Like Anthony, I think that it's good that we are sending troops to Afghanistan, but we do need to take care of our country's roads and bridges and such. We should do both :). I kind of disagree with the part about you don't care if Obama is President for the next 6 years. I mind because CLEARLY what he has said about "good things" (taking away from the "rich" and giving to the poor) are not good. Our country doesn't necessarily need change. We need for the government to stop making us their robots (like not allowing us to pray in public schools (aka government schools)). And remember that we are a Christian based country! That's about it. We (as a country) need to put God first and not anything else. And then, we will become a much better country.

JustRockinOut said...

Both presidents have had major faults. perhaps Bush was more up front with his decisions and he stood behind them; Obama is not letting the public in on his presidency.
On the health care bill, it does not logically make sense to spend and make the country more in debt than it already is. this is not the right time to pursue the bill.
I had just thought of a really great thought and forgot it.
I was recently listening to AM 750 and Obama's popularity rate is way down. so many people voted for him not for what he promised (or didn't) but because of his race (nothing meant offensively there). it doesn't matter if he is purple with pink spots, he still needs to step up to the plate and fulfill his duties as president according to the Constitution. the sixth article says that everyone is under the law, yep, that means even the President. the people should run the country, through the president nonetheless, but he works for us.

I like what Taylor said, how our contry doesn't need to change. If that is true then to rid our nation of our problems we must change the ways of our government. A change in government (and not necessarily meaning the people) could and may be what the country needs to end the controversy and instead have the answers to problems (ie. the war in Iraq and Afganistan).

As previously stated, the fact that Senator Brown won the election in Massachusetts is outstanding. This proves that even in one of the most liberal states, the American people are starting to realize what a huge mess they got themselves into dabbling in liberalism, and working towards socialism. You're right, Mr. Williams, socialism does always fail. Examples of this are scattered throughout history.

Anyways, back to the Mass. election. It brings hope to those who have long lost faith in the American people as a whole even being able to think straight. However, I'm not getting my hopes up in the Senate being able to filibuster and thus halt the progress of the healthcare bill. Unfortunately, there are still more Senator Nelsons just waiting to be bribed.

About Haiti, yes, the government has long been corrupt. Yes,billions of American dollars going to them and some of it is probably not spent wisely (corrupt gov't). However, that isn't the only reason for their failed economy. The main sources of income for Haiti is 1.Sugar Cane and 2.Tourism
The thing you have to realized about sugar cane is that after you plant it, it depletes almost every mineral supply in the soil. Just about all of the soil in Haiti is unusable because of this (and their lack of strategy for rotating crops, etc.) And the tourism industry in Haiti has dwindled greatly, due to hurricanes, the poverty of the people, among others. Now, in a land stricken by 7.0 and 6.0 earthquakes less than a week apart, who's really gonna want to spend summer vacation chilling in Port-au-Prince? My heart goes out to all of the people there.

Great job everyone so far. Be careful on your grammar and spelling
I wasn't saying I want Obama in for two terms. What I am saying is that unless people realize their rights and freedoms are being taken away by the government it doesn't matter who is president. The people must wake up and defend their liberties from those who would take them away. The government is there to protect them not abuse them. The government needs to cut unconstitutional spending, cut taxes, and allow not provide real healthcare solutions- like tax deductions, cross state insurance shopping, and tort reform.

Avian good points about Haiti. However, one thing the government is corrupt their. Check out Walter Williams article from today in townhall.com, he talks about Haiti's real problems. But your points definitely contribute.

I wasn't saying that the government in Haiti is not corrupt. I completely agree with that statement. However, I'm not going to sit here blaming just their government for the poor state of the country. I was just saying that there are other factors that contribute to the problems down there.

In response to the Mass. election, good job Mass. voters! Senator Brown's election proved that we are not quite ready to roll over and play dead for socialism. Our democracy is still alive and kicking. Yes we now can use a filibuster to stall the vote on the healthcare and other bills. But my question is do we have a Senator that will stand up and do it? Or will 3/5 of our Senators use the Cloture Rule limiting each senator to only 1 hour to speak on a bill?
As to Obama, he is the President and only the President. the Constitution provides for checks and balances on his power. When will people quit falling for campaign promises? Change has to come from Congress. Those senators and represenatives that we vote into power. The President can reccommend certain legislation but the Congress must intiate it.
On the subject of Bush and our being in Afganistan. Let's remember how we got there. The attack on 9/11. "In times of national emergencies, ie war and let there be no doubt 9/11 was an
act of war, presidents have had to exercise unpredented power. We all were more than willing to go after Bin Laden.
As to now and whether or not our troops should be there should we be spending the money, I think we should finish what we started.
Should we start the draft again. No. More soldiers did not work in Vietnam. War changes thru out history. Did we fight in a line like the redcoats during the revolutionary war? No. We have fought cold wars of espionage and secrets. Vietnam was a guerilla warfare. War now is against terrorists and requires a combination of secret intelligence gathering, political and economic strategies.
Haiti, with as much money as has been and will be thrown at that little island nation. We could have gone in and built a house for every citizen educated and trained them for their own business'
Where is the money?
Let's put some Americans to work there.

Just a quick comment on what you said about Bush & 9/11, Michael:

yes, 9/11 was a national crisis, and most americans at the time supported sending troops into afgan. However, did Congress ever declare war on Afghanistan? From what I looked up, I can't tell, so if someone officially knows, tell me. I found people saying they did (with Operation Enduring Freedom)and people also said they didn't. Regardless, The War Powers Resolution of 1973 says that the President can send a certain amount of troops into a foreign country in times of crisis, but must withdraw them after 60 days if Congress has not declared war.
So, if someone could tell me if Congress ever declared war on Afghan, then that could answer a big question for me. *cough cough* Mr. Williams *cough*

~Avian

Aaron Todd Williams said...

The answer is no! Congress never declared war on terrorism. They may have given the President permission to use the military but it's not the same. MacAuthur said "in war there is no substitute for victory". Since we have no declaration of war, victory is undefined. Look at what happened in Iraq (or Vietnam or Korea for that matter), where no war was declared. We have the craziest rules of engagement in Afgan right now, like you can't fire at insurgents until they fire at you. That is just one example of what happens when victory is undefined and murcky!

Anonymous said...

Commenting on Coach Williams comment.. I think the war currently in Iraq is similar to the Vietnam war because although the purpose to endure freedom is partially there, we aren't really fighting a constitutional war. We should either pull out of Iraq or declare war to actually get the job done.

I think the war powers resolution was a huge growth to the power of government and to the executive branch. I do not think America will fight a constitutional war any time soon unless a huge change comes into the presidency or Congress. Also, the War Powers Resolution also makes the elastic clause even more elastic because of the loose interpretation of an implied power it follows.

I agree with most of it. Communism is a total failure, I also hate when people just try to get re-elected and don't think about what it will do to our country, and the Massachusets election was huge not only politically (republicans can philibuster)but also "mentally"(wake up washington).Communism is a total failuer. one great example is that the USSR collapsed after about 50-60 some years, while America has lasted about 234ish. thats 150 some odd years! One solution about doing what is right for America is to make a term limit for senators and congressmen so they aren't always focused on what will get them re-elected but what will save america.Bi-partisanship is the main reson why america has lasted for those 234ish years.

Socialism is a total failure, so true. Haiti is a great example of a failed socialistic government.

Scott Brown's winning in MA really shows the Democrats that we mean business and we can do anything considering that MA is very liberal and yet Brown still won running on an anti socialist health care campaign. It goes to show becuase Obama panicked and ended up flying Airforce One to Logan. The more positive thought of Brown winning is that they cant vote for a cloture, so the national health care bill may very well not be passed due to a filibuster. Also like you've said many times the national health care plan is NOT constitutional and Browns winning could help that not get passed and possibly other bills Obama hopes to pass. Daniel Loo

As stated earlier, the re-activating the draft would be a total waste. We are not fighting a full scale World War. I am all for going the route of the Swiss.

on kenneth's comment, youre right about having the senators having a certain amount of years and no more, T. Jefferson said that there should be a 'revolution' every 20 something years. a full scale revolution would be stupid, and a killing of everyone in office would be stupid too, but the bases of that is to 'clean' out the Gov. seats so there will be no corruptness or too much power to one party. Back on the draft, mabye it is a bad idea, but if we took out all the jobs in China and put them here, we would have enough money to pay more soldiers (and other workes that dont want to go into the army if there is no draft). There is only a few ways to win a guerilla war, and one of them is to just completely overwhelm them in nubers and intel. we already have good intel, if the gov. wasnt trying to destroy the CIA and NSA, but we dont have numbers, and we dont have the money yet to pay for those numbers. Bin laden is already dead, no question, and Castro is dead too, with a bit of a doubt to that. If ever insurgent is in pakistan, then thats too bad for us, but i can garrentee that there are more than 300 insurgents in Afghan. that is just the gov. and/or the press trying to either keep us calm or keep the real situation under control w/o the people, wich is NOT right at all, afterall it is THE PEOPLE'S nation, shouldnt we get to know what the real stuff hapening is?

Once again, Congratulations to Scott Brown on winning the Massachusetts election.

I agree strongly when you say socialism ALWAYS fails. As you look back in history, there hasn't really been a successful socialist government. With Obama in office, that's the type of government we're heading for. Especially with this new proposed health care plan. As they are trying to pass this through congress, it will allow everyone, including illegal immigrants, to have health care insurance that is payed for by the tax payers. It will also mandate that you have to purchase health care if you want it or not. Obviously, you can see that this plan is not wanted by the people. The Massachusetts election is an example of the people letting their political leaders know that they strongly disagree with the direction of our democratic political leaders. It is important to note that the people of Massachusetts felt like the only option they had to get their point across was to vote for the republican candidate in their historically democratic state. Hopefully, President and the democratic leaders will learn from the Massachusetts election that the people must be listened to.

I agree with your other two points stated in the blog, too.

From what I understand, income tax pays for the military; this means that the people are paying for the military, the government is just directing the money in their direction. I don't understand why the government cant afford the draft, the money isn't comeing out of their pocket (somebody please explain if they can). Regarding the draft, it certainly wouldn't make sense. There are already swarms of jobless Americans that have been turning to the military as a last hope in this economy, and many of them are being rejected. A draft would definitely be ineffective, and un-needed. As to the war in Iraq, etc, we're wasting our time if we don't get together, get Congress to declare war, and try to actually do something. It's time to speed up the process. As someone stated earlier, playing police for the world doesn't work, and more often then not, it makes our enemies hate us even more. I also know we're doing our "good American deeds" rebuilding devastated countries in the middle east and Haiti for that matter, but that should be left up to private companies and charities. Heck, they do the work better than our government anyway. We're wasting time and money in the middle east unless we can actually get something done.

It is a good thing Scott Brown was elected to the Senate. There cannot be a filibuster. Without the democrast having control there can be more discussion between the parties, bringing in more perspectives. This is a perfect example why being in the Senate should NOT have the ability of being a life time career. Ted Kennedy was in the Senate so long and now people cannot just elect him based upon the "Kennedy" name. People must now look at the canidates who were running and what they represented. Brown being elected will be motivation for Republicans everywhere. Knowing the Democrats do not have control, it will hopefully help the Republician Representatives take a stronger stand for what the people they represent want.

He wasn't even saying Haiti's socialist government is the cause of their disaster. He was simply saying that the reason they are so poor is because none of the money gets funneled to them. Socialist governments are known for their greedy governments. In a socialist country, you are either rich or extremely poor.

I think this a good article, and I agree with what you said about Bush being closely-related to Obama. The thing that we need to understand though is that "freedom", a word that Conservatives throw around like there is no tomorrow, will never truly exist. Freedom is a dream until the day Jesus returns to Earth. There will always be people who abuse their power, for example the late, great Ronald Regan. I believe this man was the greatest president of all time and he STILL abused his power in the Iran-Contra scandal. He lied to, and so has every leader before and so will every leader till the end of time, forever and ever, amen. I think it is wrong to hope for the promise of freedom at the hands of a mortal man. Correct me if I am wrong, but is that not serving kings over God? I realize you should elect a representative who embodies your political ideology, but at the same time, you should not say that they are the key to freedom. One day there will be a candidate who gives you true freedom...and that man is Jesus Christ.

Yah Jake!!!!! The only perfect man that will come and rule is Jesus Christ! Those in control need to back up and think about what they are doing. They are not in control! God is! And, the sooner they know that the better!

I agree completely with Jake. But Taylor, they aren't saying that the rulers in our government are perfect (and they never will be). But we are to submit to our rulers. God is in control but he allowed for these people to govern our country. Romans 13:1 says, "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." So our government was established by God and we are to listen to them even if we do not agree. Also, most presidents, if not all, were Christians even though they may not seem like it. But otherwise, I agree that they need do what is right for our country and for the people.

I also agree with Jake and Shelby. We do need to submit to our rulers, but still stay true to God. If a ruler (President, Governor, any one in authority) asks us to do something that would go against God's word we need to stand up for what we believe in.There have been many great rulers from the beginning of time and also many bad rulers. We all need to remember to that God is the ultimate ruler, over everything.

Oh, yes Shelby. I know that we should submit to our rulers unless they are going against God's Word (like Lauren said). I was just saying that they should look to be more Christ-like so that we don't have to "turn the other cheek" so much when they disobey God our Father. I agree, we should submit to our authority. I'm sorry if I made it sound like we shouldn't listen to them at all. My bad.

Very interesting post Mr.Williams, it gives everyone alot to think about! I liked your poll question requarding the most important issue in our country. Of the 4 issues its a hard decision. Personally I think its our national debt. Our country can't continue to borrow money from other countries.
One thing I disagree with is I dont think its the governments position to provide jobs for citizens who are out of work. The government should provide the unemployed with some sort of assistance temporarily until they're able to find their own job.
About the election in Mass. One of most important points is that mass. has always voted for democrats. For Brown to win there must be alot of upset voters in Mass. because as of a month ago Brown was behind 30 point in the national polls. So the real question is what made all the people in Mass. change over from democrat to republican?

Good points, coach williams, and nice comments guys. I like what you said Jake, Shelby, and Taylor- the real magic happens when Jesus comes back. But for now, we need to watch our guys' backs. What I mean is we need to pray for Obama, Congress, everybody. God's is sovereign and knows EXACTLY what he's doing, and I do believe in the power of prayer. "You can be sure of this: The Lord set apart the godly for himself. The Lord will answer when I call to him." -Psalm 4:3.

And I'm with you, Williams- the Haiti thing is really devestating. When you really think about everything that they were ALREADY going through, and now this, it really hits you. Again, what these people really need right now is prayer.

Oh and to go on about what Jake said, we do need to give all the glory to God. We end up paying all debts and there are 0 unemployed- praise Lord. We end up having 0 money and the country goes up in flames- praise the Lord. Don't get me wrong, I really don't want the latter to happen but we as Christians need to act like Christians and keep having what Mr. Shaffer has been teaching us all year long- faith.

i absolutely love what Jake and Shelby said, i also agree with abbey and Taylor. if Obama is going to make decisions and plans, then he needs to just do it and support his actions, if he thinks he is making the right choices, he should stand behind it and not try to hide things from the people.
also we should submit to our authorities, because God is ultimately in control and He knows what is going on and will take care of it, according to His perfect plan.
if people can see how bad the government has gotten with socialism over in Haiti, why do they still support things that are being said to lead down a
similar path?
i also agree with the statements that were said, that the election in MA was a good eye opener for a lot of the people in our government, showing that the people are starting to realize whats really happening in our country

so the winning of the election was important but i have a hard time believing that this is the miracle we have all been hoping for. I think that even if we change the direction this terrible idea of a socialist america is going we are gonna need a faster driving force in the other direction.

The fact that Senator Brown was able to defeat Attorney General Coakley in Massachussetts is a supirsing event. The state of Massachussetts has primarily had Democratic representatives for about seventy years. The fact they selected a Republican to represent them is shocking since they have had such liberal views for so long. The fact that even they are fed up with it is proof that decissions made are not being agreed with. In a way that has to do with Abbeys comment about Obamas popularity rate being much lower than it has been. If a liberal state choses a conservative Republican to represent then is truely amazing. It proves that God is in control and will pull us through this.

If every socialistic government including the use of national healthcare fails, why cant the people in congress give up on the healthcare reform bill and just represent the american people!

I didnt see this on your post but while the national debt is rising a war is raging and ten thousand things are left to do on his list, why is Obama trying to pass a bill in congress about the college football playoff system?! that just SCREAMS "BAD PRESIDENT!" to me.
PS - i wouldnt mind a college football playoff system instead of only BCS and AP voting. haha

addison there is no way you came up with that... i agree...but there is no way

Awesome! This has been a lot of fun. One point, I never said America, the founding fathers, or our history is perfect. Freedom is perfect either because of our sin nature. The founders understood that. That is why they wanted to limit government so mans sin nature couldn't use the power of gov to take peoples rights and freedoms. Plus with freedom comes responsiblity. The bible is the foundation for those responsiblities. That is called moral order. That says you must first have good self government to truly have good gov. That sadly is where America has failed the most. All the other problems stem from this.

Just wanted to express my feelings about Brown's win in Massachusetts. I think that it my be helpful in the future to have that spot filled with a Republican. Massachusetts is known to be a democratic and liberal state as well as being known to be ran by the Kennedy's. This has obviously come to an end for now at least. Not only can Brown open the eyes of those who voted for Obama and his "plans" (particularly health care) but he can open the eyes of those who will soon be voting on health care. After watching Fox News the night of the election, I got to see some individuals who voted for Obama and immediately regretted it and ended up voting for Brown. Personally, I think that's just a cool and somewhat comforting thought... to know that some people are waking up.

I agree with the fact that Obama is doing exactly what Bush was doing, but in more quantity. Bush was spending, Obama spends more, etc. And the republicans only hate on Obama for it, because Bush is just as much at fault. its not fair to Obama, even tough he is worse. We need someone to step & tell the current government whats what. Its time that the government works for us, and not us working for the government to fill their pockets and lessen ours. I hate how we, as americans, only seem to vote in the candidate that worsens our nation, now to the point of trillion dollar debt and potential socialistic healthcare. America needs help and someone needs to assume the responsibility and turn things around before we get ourselves into exactly what we were trying to save Iraq from: communism/dictatorship.

Iraq was a totalitarian country... now it is a democracy

Oooh taylor I just read one of your earlier comments and I really liked what you said. The government is NOT our puppetmaster, the government is supposed to be a protector, not a provider. If you read "The Law", it talks about the duties that the government needs to tend to, and right now our government is doing way more than it should.

And yes, I mind very much if obama is president for the next several years. His socialist and pro-abortion views are SO NOT COOL, and it is definitely not helping our country right now. The fact that he allows babies to be murdered even when they are sitting right in front of you (very much alive) is very sickening. So yes, I DO mind if he sticks around for much longer.

Well, all this stuff is nice, but has anyone thought about how we are going to erase the debt and stop unemployment? The only suggestion I've heard so far is to reinstate the draft. Bad call. If all of you are supposedly against socialism, then how can you advocate giving jobs who's salary is payed by taxes? The bigger the military, the higher taxes, and when taxes (our money being taken; particularly that of the rich) are being given to others:1: it's called socialism.2: it does not actually help the economy. It is helping those people, but hurting everyone else.

Now; were it a larger war with many more people involved, it would be effective to raise military pay or something because then there would be a massive influx of cash and men who now need new clothes, homes, and educations, shortly after the war's end.(an effective stimulus, as evidenced after WW2)

I also realize that we need a bigger military somehow. This could be a wonderful example of somewhere the private sector could demolish the government version. If we allowed large numbers of small (controllable)well armed groups of mercenaries to be created, they could supplement our military in the needed way. We could even pay them largely from donations. If there had been a visible funds collection to send these mercenaries to Iraq shortly after 9/11, they might still not be paid with tax dollars.

Obviously the prime example of the failure of communism was the soviet union. They had much more land, ten million more people, a larger work force, and more natural resources and yet we economically destroyed them. Yet China, our modern day rival, is destroying us to much the same degree. Does their rather un-communistic communism work?

P.S. this counts as both posts you asked us to do for extra credit. That is why I went off about two completely different subjects.

i agree; today william's showed us that email about michelle obama. she had twenty something people serving just here, while the former first lady had just one. its ok to spend but not in excessive excessiveness....that sounded weird but you get it. the first way to reduce debt is reduce spending. if anything, the president has chosen to go against all the patterns of modern and logical economics and spend more.
