Character or a Character?

What are you looking for in the next President? Many people want someone who will do something for them: fix health care, give them a job, provide a college education, write them a check, build more schools and roads for them, secure a future for them, etc....
But, is that really what Americans should be looking for in a President? The original Americans did not have a single one of those ideals in their minds. They looked for honesty, bravery, leadership, statemanship, patriotism, and the list could go on. When you look at the two candidates are they reflecting these characteristics? Maybe I am old-fashioned, but I want a President who tells me what he is not going to do for me rather than promise me the world. We have a 10 trillion dollar debt, and in this election less would actually be more. We need a President who is going to abide by the Constitution, and keep the Federal Government limited as the Founding Fathers intended. Yet, often when I hear the candidates speak, I hear and see more of how they are going to violate the Constitution. I want a President who is going to strengthen our economy by keeping taxes low, allowing oil companies to drill, and keeping Congress in check. We don't need them to work together, that is what happened with the Republican Congress and President. They worked too good together and spending increase by 10%, and our debt increased to a double-digit-trillion-dollar, mega-monster problem. I would take a second coming of Calvin Coolidge, the really great president of the 20th Century. He understood that the government should get out of the way and allow American to enjoy the fruit of its labor. By the way he also cut spending and taxes (in that order), but actually INCREASED the revenues of the government while paying down the national debt. So, what would the perfect candidate look like to you? Give me three characteristics and why.

Americans are over all lazy people. We want a preseident that will do the work for us, that will give us the money we want, when the hard core truth is, THEY CAN'T! Besides that not the presidents job. We just need someone to watch over us, and maitain the country.

A president can't be perfect and fix our countries "booboos", so why are we expecting that from just a man?

We do need a president that will perseveer, and try to the best of his sbility, and do WHAT he can, to help us. That's what we need.

The truth is there really is no "perfect" president because if there was, it would be that much easier to vote for one. Even though, the "perfect" president would be an honest person who could follow through with what they say. For example, Obama has NO right to tell us that he can do something about the poor people in America. He can't, it's that simple. The government's job is to protect not to provide (to the poor for example). He also wants to cover uninsured Americans...but then again, thats not his job. He would be using our money to cover the people that don't have money. That's just not fair to anybody! America wants a president that can do HIS job on making America great.

There could never be a perfect President, because as humans we are prone to make mistakes. However that does not mean we can’t have a great President. The three characteristics that we should look for in a President are that;

They should allow more drilling for now, so we have time to advance in our technology.
They should always look back at the constitution to make our country bigger and better.
They should also do what is best for the people not always the country.
Granted no one is truly perfect but they can always do their best.

A perfect president is hard to come by,because theyre arent any. So if we stopped looking and expecting for one this election would be very easy. Personally if id have to chose 3 characteristcs for a president, The first would be a president that beleives in the samde ideals of Christianity as me. The reason being because that way we as a people know they rely on their faith and look for the good in people not the bad. Also because they know it was someone bigger than them that made this earth. The second characteristic a president should have would be courage. Simply because we need a president who has the ability to make tough descions no matter what. Third and finally a characteristic we would need most out of a president is compassion and someone who is in touch with the people he is running for. Not someone who cant remember how many houses he has or how he cant relate to how every american feels when there at the tank. Because theyve been spoon fed there whole life.Compassion is also important becaucse we want a president who gives us not only equal rigthts but equal outcome. Even though it may be hard and to much to ask almost anything can be done when you put your mind to it. Those are the qualitys a president should truly have.

A president(though we will never have a perfect one) should be very wise to understand what our country needs and to understand the best way to aid our country.
A president should be submissive when needed and listen to the peoples ideas. we might just have a good idea, and we were given a voice for a reason.
A President should be strong with a high tolerance, not physically, but mentally so that he/she could take on the issues at hand and do their best to help fix the issues so they are not freaking out under the high pressures.

A perfect President to me is someone who loves their country. Someone who wants nothing more than for us to succeed. A President who loves us and his country enough to lower the government spending and abide by the Constitution.
Secondly, we need someone who believes in God. If God isn't in charge of our country, then who is? The government? Yeah, that's a good idea. I'd say it's smart to not leave it in human hands.
Finally, we need someone who believes in what was originally written by our founding fathers.

We need a president that believes that God is our provider- a president that follows God and puts God in control. That is the most important thing. I think another thing is that he has good morals so he won't embarrass or put our country in danger. A third characteristic I think our president should have is honesty. They need to mean what they say and stand by it.

We need a president that understands our country's needs and knows how to reach those needs because if we allow a person to become a president that doesnt understands these then how is he going to help us when everything goes wrong?
The president should also love our country. If we ellect a person to be our president that doesnt even love this country then he would probably not even care if anything bad happens to us.
Lastly, our president should be wise in his decisions and not be stupid and make a wrong choice and be like "oh well." He needs to think ahead and have many plans just in case if one plan doesnt work.

Love,
Christina.

I'm Korean but I think our preseidents are not good.
I will writes what i want. First I want they have not lie.
Because every time they said very good things for us, but after they become president they did not do before they said. peoples belived what they said but when they did not do that people disappointed.
Second i want they have clean heart.
Third i want they make good world.

The perfect president is understanding. If he understands us and our country, then our needs will be met by him. He also needs to be just an average joe, just like us. Most of our presidents have been farely well off. If all these recent raises of prices don'f effect our presidents, then how do they know what to change. The last quality of the perfect president is honesty. With an honest president, he will tell us the truth and when he tells us what he intends to do during his presidency, he won't be just saying that to get votes.

Americans need a president who doesn't lie. If we hear candidates saying, it is like too hard to choose one among the all candidates. Cause they always say lists that people like. But then, after one elected, are they do all things that they promised to people? Almost all of past presidents even in my country, don't keep their promise. So, they have to be honest.

Second, they have responsibility. It related to first one that I said before, if they elected by peopld, they need responsibility to do their work for people. People didn't elect them because they just promise and not working. If they elected, they have to work hard for their country, even if they have personal problem.

Last, president who can develop economy will be elected in this election. For instanse, they should allow company to drill freely. And they should know well about their country's economy situation.

the best thing for a president would more than likly be a person strong willed and who wouldent just let other countrys walk all over us.

somthing els that would make a half way decent president would be somone who would hold to the original constatution and not want make changes just to have favore.

The ideal president would be someone who understands that his job is to lead our country-- not play charity and save everyone who brings trouble on themselves. Our president must also be able to make the right decisions in tough situations; decisions that will promote America's general welfare instead of just helping him out or keeping him on the voters' good side. Lastly, we need someone who truly loves the USA and understands and upholds the values it is founded on.

We need a President who will not provide for us but give us the opportunity to provide for ourselves. It's like the old saying that if you give a man a fish eats for a day, but if you teach him to fish it will feed him for a lifetime.
The President needs to only do the things that are in the power given to him.
He needs to be honest.

We need a president who is honest because he has our country in his hands.so we can trust him. Another characteristic is leadership because they have to lead our country and not be scared to be in charge. To be a Christian is another one because if you follow God thats as close to perfect as you can get.

Ideally, I want a president who has a Biblical world view and desires to follow the path God intends for him and for our country. The second greatest trait I would like to find in this man would be an understanding of and commitment to following the foundation that was laid in our Constitution. What has happened to preserving our rights and not limiting them? And lastly, that being president of our great nation would be an honor and an opportunity to SERVE the people of the US... not the final rung on the ladder of a political career.

The perfect president is one who provides for our country. He will do this by doing watever it takes in order for our country to have that perfect change. He will make gas prices lower. This will be done by the process of drilling. The last perfect trait is to be a christian. He will try his best to follow the word of God, and will be led by the word of all paths that he takes.

We as americans DESERVE a president that has the following characteristics:

#1) The president should be able to protect us by, making sure the Federal goverment is doing their job and there job only.
(like you said)
if they do not secure the borders, wanted crimals, terorists, and really bad people will be able to freely enter America (Oh! Wait! They already do!)

#2) The president should live his life as a Christain, by following the word of God.
We want a president who follows the word of God because he is less likely to fall corrupt if he is following him.

#3) Lastly, We need a president that has the characteristic of
Loyalty,selfless,and a servant.

Well our nation is probably one of the most spoiled nation on earth and if we dont get something then someone is going to pay for it. I think that the president we need is gonna have to have these attributes.
1) He/she has to abide by the constitution so that we dont end up in a 10 trillion dollar debt again.
2) He/she cant try and give us what we want, instead he/she should just lead our nation and not listen to our whims and instead just do things that abide to the office.
3) He/she should lower gas prices by making it so that we can drill oil because we must use all of our natural resources as God has commanded us

It would be really hard to find a "perect president". That president would have to meet EVERYONES needs. And that would just be impossible to find. But i guess the closest we could get is just someone that meets the main things that people need. No one wants high gas prices, so if a president would be smart enough to drill from Alaska or some other place where we have oil, then that could be a possible choice. Or, if someone can try to resolve things with the war, without using some of the ideas Bush has, then that would aslo be good. And the final thing, would be to lower taxes. To me, thats what a good president would be.

There will never be a perfect president. But for someone to come close, I would want them to have the following characteristics: They must love the country that they swear to serve, be a christian and uphold the laws of the Bible, and be strong and able to think on his(or her someday) feet in times of trouble. But they must also go through decisions rationally and not act on the moment. And not all Presidents in the past have had military experience, like Abraham Lincoln, but he did what was best for the country in order to retain the liberties this country has...life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These are the traits the President should have for his country.

For me, the kind of person i want to lead my generation is someone who is not affraid to stand up for what's right. Not only to defend our rights, but defend what is morally right. If our President had the right matter of heart this country would be in good hands, because he would be looking at the country as a whole and what's best for the COUNTRY. He wouldn't focus his money, time, and attention on a select, "special" group. Our President should be humble and actually for once in a polititians life, tell the truth. Not the truth that they think people want to hear, but the blunt truth that America needs to hear so that we can make the right decisions on who we elect into office.
